CPAI is a federal not-for-profit corporation incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act. Our corporation number is 1788344-7.
CPAI is not a registered charity and does not issue official donation receipts.
Being not-for-profit does not mean that every CPAI activity must be free. It means that revenue is raised to support our organizational purposes. Any operating surplus remains within CPAI and is reinvested in mission-aligned programs, resources, and organizational capacity. CPAI does not distribute dividends to members or directors.
Legal governance rests with CPAI’s directors. The directors are responsible for overseeing the organization’s mission, strategy, annual plans, budgets, financial controls, risk management, legal compliance, and conflicts of interest.
Honorary advisors, volunteers, and contributors support CPAI’s work but do not hold director or fiduciary authority unless they are formally appointed to such a role.
CPAI’s not-for-profit mission comes before private or unrelated commercial interests. Programs and revenue activities must support our organizational purposes.
Material decisions, budgets, and financial approvals are documented and overseen through the organization’s legal governance structure.
Relevant conflicts of interest must be identified, disclosed, and managed appropriately before decisions are made.
Advisory, volunteer, operational, and legal-governance roles are kept distinct so that authority and accountability remain clear.
CPAI protects the independence of its educational, research, and editorial work when working with sponsors and partners.
Operating surpluses are retained by CPAI and reinvested in mission-aligned programs, resources, and responsible operations.
CPAI’s current and planned revenue-generating activities may include:
These activities must be connected to CPAI’s mission. CPAI does not operate an unrelated commercial business.
Registration fees for CPAI-produced events help cover the actual cost of delivering useful and accessible programming. These costs may include:
When event revenue exceeds the direct cost of delivering an event, the remaining amount supports CPAI’s broader mission activities.
Revenue helps CPAI research, create, review, and publish original articles, implementation guides, playbooks, checklists, case studies, technical reports, adoption indicators, and other practical resources.
It can support subject-matter experts, writers, researchers, editors, technical reviewers, designers, translators, and audio or video producers involved in creating reliable content.
Revenue supports English and French translation, editing, captioning, transcripts, accessible formatting, visual design, website maintenance, and the production of webinar, video, podcast, and educational materials.
Revenue helps CPAI organize webinars, workshops, industry roundtables, executive education, community discussions, and reduced-cost or freely accessible learning opportunities.
Revenue may support research tools, software, secure cloud services, benchmarking, workflow and data assessments, responsible pilot projects, technical documentation, and reusable adoption guidance.
Revenue helps coordinate contributors, onboard volunteers, manage projects, recognize substantial work, and provide approved honoraria or professional support where appropriate.
Revenue also supports accounting, legal advice, insurance, privacy and security controls, digital systems, record keeping, compliance, and public reporting.
A fee, sponsorship, or partnership does not purchase a CPAI endorsement, favourable coverage, ranking, speaker selection, or control over research findings.
Material sponsorship relationships will be identified. CPAI retains responsibility for its program, research, and editorial decisions, and relevant conflicts of interest must be disclosed and managed.
CPAI is establishing an annual transparency cycle. After each completed reporting period, we will update this page with:
Formal financial statements will be prepared, approved, and provided to members or regulators in accordance with applicable requirements.
